A biological Bayesian network for prediction of adverse outcome in a population of acutely ill patients triaged in the Emergency Department

چکیده
Background We know from previous studies that increasing age, abnormal vital signs and abnormal acid-base status are strongly associated with in-hospital mortality in unselected patients admitted acutely to hospital. A model including this information will make us able to explore associations and predict the risk for future patients. Our aim was to describe a Bayesian model for prediction of adverse outcome in the acute ill adult patient admitted to hospital, based on already existing data from the ‘Acute Admission Database’.

Atomoxetine, an attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) agent , has severe adverse effects, which even causes suicidal ideation in patients and when combined with other drugs such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors or in patients with cardiovascular disorders or pheochromocytoma, it can be fatal. In order to monitor the trough level of the drug, sensitive analytical methods are in demand.T...
متن کاملAccuracy of Genomic Prediction under Different Genetic Architectures and Estimation Methods
The accuracy of genomic breeding value prediction was investigated in various levels of reference population size, trait heritability and the number of quantitative trait locus (QTL). Five Bayesian methods, including Bayesian Ridge regression, BayesA, BayesB, BayesC and Bayesian LASSO, were used to estimate the marker effects for each of 27 scenarios resulted from combining three levels for her...
متن کاملPotential Role of Exogenous Melatonin Supplement in Delirium Prevention in Critically Ill Patients: A Double-Blind Randomized Pilot Study
Critically ill patients often suffer from disturbance of sleep-wake cycle and consequently delirium development, in intensive care units (ICU). In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of exogenous melatonin on delirium development and its related adverse sequelae in the subgroup of medical and surgical ICU patients. We performed a double-blind placebo-controlled randomized pilot study i...
